Jalapeno Strawberry Limeade

Jalapeno Strawberry Limeade

I don't know about you all, but I'm getting spring fever here in Seattle. After a couple of really rainy weeks, we've had a few days of upper 50's and sunshine and I get to see daylight when I get home from work...woot woot!

I know I'm getting a little aggressive with the limeade since it's still early March, but a couple of weeks ago I was in Scottsdale for work, had some lemonade and since then I just can't get enough. Needless to say, this won't be the last lemonade or limeade variation you'll see coming from me this spring and summer.

Since I'm drinking for two, I couldn't add any vodka or tequila to this concoction, but you should...and then let me know how delicious it turns out.

A special thank you to Mr. KMW for putting some elbow grease into juicing my limes. And remember, be sure to use protection, no one wants to get squirt in the eye with lime juice.



juice of 6 limes, approx 1-1/2 cups
1 lb strawberries, hulled and halved
2/3 cups sugar
1 jalepeno, removing 3/4 of the seeds (remove all if you don't want spice, use half if you really want a kick)
6-8 cups of water
ice cubes

Strain and juice 6 limes, add lime juice to blender with strawberries, sugar and jalepeno (note if you are making this ahead of time, wait to add jalapeno until right before serving as spice will infuse into liquid quickly). Blend together. Add as much water as fits in your blender, pulse a couple of times. Taste to see if more sugar is needed.

Add to pitcher with water (gauge how much you need based on taste).

Serve over ice and enjoy!
