Nutella Swirl Blondies

nutella blonde brownies 2

To thank Kiss My Whisk's first facebook fan, I want to make her a sweet treat. I had trouble deciding what I wanted to make, but when I was at the grocery store last week the Nutella basically jumped off the shelf into my cart. So I decided I wanted the sweet treat to incorporate Nutella, because everyone loves Nutella. I opted to swirl the Nutella on top of my Mom's Blonde Brownies aka Peyton's Brownies in my family. Peyton's my nephew and when he was little my mom would never dare fly out to see him without these blondies in hand.

Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1-2 cups Nutella

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Heat shortening until melted, and mix in brown sugar, eggs & vanilla until well combined. Stir in baking powder, salts, and nuts if using. Spread in greased 9 x 13 pan (you can half the recipe and use an 8x8). Drop spoonfuls of nutella on top of brownie dough, and use knife or spatula to create swirls. Heat for 25 to 30 minutes.
